§ 47. Captain HAROLD BALFOURasked the Postmaster-General how many weekly despatches of air mails to the Cape and arrivals from the Cape have taken place since this air route was opened; and on how many occasions the mails have been delivered to time at either destination?
§ Sir K. WOODThere have been 12 despatches of air mails from Croydon to South Africa, and the aeroplane reached Capetown on the due date on five occasions. There have been 11 arrivals from the Cape, of which three were punctual.
§ Captain BALFOURIs the right hon. Gentleman entirely satisfied with the punctuality of the air mails?
§ Sir K. WOODOf course, these figures are unfortunate, but I think there is an explanation in most of the cases.
