At 25th January, 1932, the latest date for which statistics are available, there were 1,277 wholly unemployed men on the registers of Employment Exchanges in Scotland who were applicants for work as coopers. Separate statistics of the number of coopers employed in connection with the production of Scotch whiskey are not available.
