§ 1. Brigadier-General NATIONasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can give a list of the cadet units that have recently been recognised by that Department; and what their respective strengths were at the latest date for which figures are available?
§ The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a return which has been prepared by the British National Cadet Association, showing the number of cadet units affiliated to the association on 31st March last, and the latest available figures of their strengths.
§ Brigadier-General NATIONWill my hon. Friend consider the desirability of inviting other cadet units in this country, such as the Church Lads' Brigade, the Jewish Lads' Brigade, and so on, to become affiliated to the National Cadet Association, in order that the training of the youth of this country may be organised and run by one Government Department?
§ Mr. COOPERI think that that is a matter which must be left to the units themselves; it is not one in which the War Office ought to interfere.
