HC Deb 28 September 1931 vol 257 cc28-9
51. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Prime Minister if he will reconsider his decision not to give facilities for the Rent (Reduction and Control) Bill, in view of the rise in the cost of living following upon the departure from the gold standard and of the cuts in unemployment pay?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. STEPHEN

Will the Prime Minister say if the Government do not propose to do anything in order to try and help the unemployed who are finding such difficulties with these big rents?

The PRIME MINISTER

Quite the contrary.

Mr. STEPHEN

Will the right hon. Gentleman tell us what the Government are going to do?
