HC Deb 28 September 1931 vol 257 c29
40. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Minister of Health whether it is intended to continue the Prolongation of Insurance Act after the present year; and, if not, What steps he proposes to take to safeguard the National Health Insurance benefits of the unemployed who will be deprived of such benefits after the end of the present year if the Act is not extended?

Mr. SIMON

My right hon. Friend is not yet in a position to add anything to the reply which he gave to the hon. Member for Southampton on the 17th instant on the same subject.

Mr. STEPHEN

Will the hon. Member give an assurance that a statement will be made before the termination of the Session, in view of the importance of the matter?

Mr. SIMON

The matter is being considered, and I hope that will be possible.
