§ 14. Mr. O. LEWISasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what effect the grant of £25,000 for locust relief in the 1626 Kavirondo country is having upon the number of natives who come forward from that district for work in Kenya generally?
Mr. THOMASI have no information to show what effect the grants made for locust relief which have been applied in the Kavirondo country are having upon the supply of native labour from that area, beyond a recent statement from the Governor that in the South Kavirondo district a large number of natives require relief, one reason being that they were unable to find sufficient employment as labourers.
Mr. THOMASIf the hon. Member will put down that question, I will ascertain. I could not say off-hand.
