Captain ERSKINE-BOLSTasked the Minister of Health the names and occupations of the committee appointed under Section 1 (1) of the Housing (Rural Authorities) Act, together with the number and nature of the applications for housing contributions already made by rural district councils to that committee; the number of such applications already approved; and the nature of the directions given to the committee by him?
§ 87. Sir W. JENKINSasked the Minister of Health what authorities in England and Wales have submitted schemes under the Housing (Rural Authorities) Act, 1931, the number of houses included in the proposals, what schemes have received his approval, and the number of houses included in the approved schemes?
Sir H. YOUNGThe committee appointed under the Act of 1931 held a meeting in September. Applications have been received from 136 rural district councils in respect of 7,003 houses and are under investigation, but they have not yet been considered by the committee and none has yet been approved. I will send my hon. Friend the Member for Blackpool (Captain Erskine-Bolst) a list of the members of the committee and a copy of the directions given under Section 1 (4) of the Act.
§ Mr. HARRISDoes the right hon. Gentleman realise that this Act was passed by common consent of both parties as an emergency Measure, and will he see that the committee meets frequently and puts their powers into effect?
