§ 21. Mr. HICKS
asked the Minister of Labour if he is prepared to give an assurance that in future contracts carrying grants under the Development (Loan Guarantees and Grants) Act, 1929 (Part II), the application of Regulation 6, in Circular U.G.C. 26, issued by the Unemployment Grants Committee, will not be enforced?
§ Sir H. BETTERTON
The object of this condition is to enable men to be taken off relief work and placed in ordinary industrial employment as and when opportunity presents itself. This is to the ultimate advantage of the men themselves, and I am certainly not prepared to cancel it.
