HC Deb 26 November 1931 vol 260 c510
79. Mr. PRICE

asked the Minister of Health if he will prepare a White Paper showing the various scales of relief authorised by the public assistance committees in England and Wales, and particularly whether any provision is made for rent allowance in addition to the normal scale, and what deduction is made in respect of War disability pensions when assessing the family income?

Sir H. YOUNG

I will send the hon. Member a copy of the Stationery Office publication containing the evidence of my Department in January last to the Royal Commission on Unemployment Insurance, which gives information about the scales applicable to able-bodied persons and their families. There is no requirement that scales should be submitted to me. They are intended only as a general guide and much depends on how they are administered. Rent allowances vary in different areas. I will send the hon. Member copies of circulars dealing with the question of disability pensions.
