HC Deb 26 November 1931 vol 260 c489
42. Major CARVER

asked the Home Secretary how many motorists have reported under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act accidents to animals on the public road in which they have been concerned during the last 12 months?

Sir H. SAMUEL

I regret that the information is not available. It could only be obtained by separate (inquiry from each police force, and I do not think I should be justified in asking the police to incur this labour and expense. Reports of this kind are not made to the police in all cases. A driver is only required to report to the police if he has not given the prescribed particulars to some person on the spot who is concerned with the injured animal
