HC Deb 26 November 1931 vol 260 c488
31. Captain ERSKINE-BOLST

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any definite advice is given to licensing justices in respect of plans submitted to them for new or remodelled public-houses; and, if not, whether he will consider the issue of such advice so as to ensure approximation to Continental methods of catering for the public in the supply of refreshments?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir Herbert Samuel)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As regards any future action, I am awaiting the forthcoming report of the Royal Commission on Licensing.
