HC Deb 26 November 1931 vol 260 c518
100. Mr. FLANAGAN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider the repeal of the Section of the Finance Act, 1926, which allows private persons to bring into this country foreign dresses on payment of a lower duty than that imposed on gowns intended for sale; and whether any representations have been made to him on the subject by the drapery trade?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Representations from the drapery trade on this matter have been made to my predecessors from time to time, but so far none have been received by me. I have taken note of the suggestion made in the first part of my hon. Friend's question.
