HC Deb 23 November 1931 vol 260 cc44-5
73. Mr. JAMES DUNCAN

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the fact that several of the traders in Kensington Rag Fair have been fined so heavily that they have had to go to prison because they could not pay the fines for illegal trading on Sundays, he will consider taking action to remit part of the fines?

Sir H. SAMUEL

I could not consider action on the lines suggested without having before me full particulars of individual eases in which it is suggested that persons unable by reason of poverty to pay have been committed to prison.

Mr. DUNCAN

If I submit a case to the right hon. Gentleman, will he consider it?

Sir H. SAMUEL

Certainly.
