HC Deb 18 November 1931 vol 259 cc829-30
6. Mr. SMITHERS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many meetings of the Russian Debts and Claims Committee and sub-committees have been held since the dissolution of the last Parliament; can he report to the House if any progress has been made; and what is the present position of the negotiations?

Mr. EDEN

There have been no meetings since the dissolution. For the present position I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on Monday last to the hon. Members for South Kensington (Sir W. Davison) and Eastbourne (Mr. Marjoribanks).

Mr. SMITHERS

Unless the Soviet delegates show some willingness to come to an agreement will His Majesty'3 Government consider the advisability of deporting them as undesirable aliens?
