15. Mr. DOUGLAS HACKING

asked the Home Secretary the present establishment and strength of the women police in the Metropolitan area; and how many are attached to the Criminal Investigation Department?

Mr. CLYNES

The present establishment and strength is one staff officer, two inspectors, five sergeants and 43 constables; of these one inspector and one constable are attached to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Mr. HACKING

Is it the intention to increase the number to be attached to the Criminal Investigation Department?

Mr. CLYNES

There is no present intention as far as I know, but I will consider that point.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say how much it will cost?

Mr. CLYNES
