HC Deb 21 May 1931 vol 252 c2206
10. Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Home Secretary how many requests he has received from parish councils asking that the system of voting at parish council elections be altered to secret-ballot; and whether he proposes to take any action?

Mr. CLYNES

During the last 10 years representations in favour of some alteration of the present system of electing parish councillors have been received in the Home Office from 79 parishes, the total number of parishes with parish councils being over 7,000. As to the latter part of the question, I may refer to my reply on the 23rd April to the Noble Lord the Member for East Norfolk (Viscount Elmley).
