§ 18. Mr. REMERasked the Home Secretary how many prosecutions were made against motorists for exceeding the speed limit between Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner; and how many prosecutions for similar offences along Constitution Hill?
§ Mr. CLYNESThe following are the figures for the 12 months ended 31st March last:
Between March Arch and Hyde Park Corner (i.e., East Carriage Road, Hyde Park) | 237 |
Constitution Hill | 305 |
§ Sir W. BRASSDoes not the right hon. Gentleman think, as these figures are so large, that it would be better to have the police in uniform to act as a deterrent instead of hiding them so that that public do not know where they are?
§ Mr. CLYNESI am not an authority on that point, but it is a point worth considering.
