HC Deb 19 May 1931 vol 252 cc1765-6
46. Mr. BOOTHBY

asked the Prime Minister whether the report of the committee which is inquiring into the fishing industry has yet been received by the Government; and whether he proposes to publish it?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; the second part does not therefore arise.

Mr. BOOTHBY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware of the urgency of this question; and, in view of the imminence of the summer fishing, will he try to do-something to expedite the publication of this report

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, but the difficulty is to get the committee to do it as well. I am perfectly well aware of the urgency of the matter.

Sir F. THOMSON

Will the Prime Minister keep in view the statement of his colleague the Minister of Agriculture in this House at the beginning of February, that the committee were then considering the draft report.

The PRIME MINISTER

I know, but I hope that hon. Members will not attribute the blame for any delay to us. We have been doing our best to get the report.
