HC Deb 14 May 1931 vol 252 cc1358-9
91. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for India if he is aware of the damage being caused to the metal trades in the Midlands by the boycott against British goods in India: and what steps are being taken to improve the situation?

The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Wedgwood Benn)

If the hon. Gentleman will inform me of specific cases in which the metal trades are being boycotted, I will have inquiry made.

Mr. MANDER

I will do so, but is the right hon. Gentleman aware that Lancashire is not the only county very badly hit by this boycott?

Captain Sir WILLIAM BRASS

Do we understand that the Government's policy of drift is still to continue?
