HC Deb 13 May 1931 vol 252 cc1186-7
48. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he can now make a statement as to the attitude and position of the Irish Free State in relation to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council; and whether any further communication has been made by the Irish Free State on the matter?

The SECRETARY of STATE for DOMINION AFFAIRS (Mr. J. H. Thomas)

The position is as I have indicated in reply to previous questions, and I am not able to make any further statement on the subject at present.

Sir K. WOOD

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to take any official notice of the important pronouncement of President Cosgrave on this matter a few days ago?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Was not this a condition of the treaty, which was ultimately embodied in a Statute?

Mr. THOMAS

I nave nothing to add to what I have already said.
