asked the President of the Board of Trade the weight and value of foreign newsprint imported into this country for the year 1930, or for the 12 months ended at the last convenient date, and the weight and value of newsprint imported during the same period from Canada and Newfoundland, respectively?

During the year 1930, the imports of news printing paper into the United Kingdom consigned from foreign countries amounted to 2,442,000 cwt., of a declared value of £1,610,000, while the imports consigned from Canada and Newfoundland amounted to 2,463,000 cwt., valued at £1,716,000, and 2,100,000 cwt., valued at £1,506,000, respectively.
