HC Deb 05 May 1931 vol 252 cc191-2
28. Mr. MARJORIBANKS

asked the President of the Board of Trade the figures for the imports of British goods into Egypt during the last 12 months, as compared with the previous 12 months, both in volume and value, giving the percentage of British imports as compared with the total imports into Egypt for the two years, respectively?

Mr. GRAHAM

The total value of merchandise imported into Egypt during 1930 was £48,044,000 and in 1929 £56,444,000. Of these amounts the total imports from the United Kingdom in 1930 amounted to £9,814,000 or 20.4 per cent. and in 1929 £11,909,000 or 21.1 per cent. The volume of imports is not recorded in the Egyptian trade returns.
