HC Deb 12 March 1931 vol 249 cc1357-8
17. Mr. MATTERS

asked the Minister of Labour whether, seeing that many unemployed men were not of Army age when the War ended and consequently are not able to fulfil the ex-service qualification when applying for work under the schemes sanctioned by the Unemployment Grants Committee, she will take steps to reduce the ex-service men quota under such schemes from 75 per cent to 50 per cent. in those cases where the local authority requests such reduction and she is satisfied that the higher quota cannot be filled?

Miss BONDFIELD

The Unemployment Grants Committee have power to reduce this percentage in approved cases.
