HC Deb 12 March 1931 vol 249 c1357
16. Mr. THOMAS LEWIS

asked the Minister of Labour if she is aware that a girl of 18 years of age, without any experience away from home, has been refused unemployment benefit because she was unwilling to accept employment at sea; and whether she will take steps to ensure that benefit is not refused on such grounds?

Miss BONDFIELD

As my hon. Friend probably knows, the decision whether benefit should be refused rests with the statutory authorities, but if he will give me particulars of the case he has in mind, I will make inquiries.
