HC Deb 05 March 1931 vol 249 cc592-3
69. Mr. MANDER

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will con- sider the advisability of arranging that third-class fares only shall be allowed to Members of Parliament visiting their constituencies until the registered number of unemployed has fallen to a normal figure?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

I would refer the hon. Member to my statement on this matter during the Debate on the House of Commons Supplementary Estimate on 24th February.

Mr. MANDER

Would not this be a good opportunity for putting the House of Commons on a system of payment by results?
