HC Deb 29 June 1931 vol 254 c874
50. Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what commercial treaties have been negotiated with Turkey since the War; and what has been the course of British exports to Turkey since 1922?

Mr. GILLETT

The Treaty of Commerce and Navigation between this country and Turkey, which at present governs the commercial relations between the two countries, was signed on 1st March, 1930, and came into force on 3rd September, 1930. This replaced a modus vivendi of 2nd July, 1929, which in its turn had replaced the Commercial Convention annexed to the Treaty of Lausanne signed on 24th July, 1923. In regard to the second part of the question, I am sending the hon. Member the detailed figures.
