HC Deb 29 June 1931 vol 254 c872
19. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he now proposes to renew the negotiations in relation to the Franco-Italian naval building programmes; and what further steps the Government now propose to take in the matter of the proposed naval agreement?

23. Commander SOUTHBY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can say when it is expected that the negotiations between the French and Italian Governments regarding naval building programmes will either be resumed or finally terminated?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

I have no further statement to make on this subject at present.

Commander SOUTHBY

Does the right hon. Gentleman not consider that the statement that complete agreement was reached on 1st March was completely misleading?

Mr. HENDERSON

Not in the least.

Commander SOUTHBY

What does the right hon. Gentleman think it meant?

Mr. HENDERSON

What it said.
