HC Deb 22 June 1931 vol 254 cc20-1
42. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the present position of the negotiations with the Chinese Government, especially in regard to extra-territoriality?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

As regards extra-territoriality, I have nothing to add to the answers which I returned in the House on Monday and Wednesday last. No other question is under negotiation.

Captain MACDONALD

Are these still continuing or have they broken down?

Mr. HENDERSON

I reported the other day that negotiations had progressed sufficiently far to enable them to be reported to both Governments.

Sir K. WOOD

Does not the condition in China demand reconsideration of the whole position?

Mr. HENDERSON

No, I think not.
