HC Deb 22 June 1931 vol 254 c32
49. Mr. GOULD

asked the Prime Minister whether he has considered the representations sent to him from the Somerset Miners' Association as to the wages paid to the miners in that district and their inability to secure by negotiation with the owners a fair wages agreement; and what steps he proposes to take to secure to the men such an agreement enforceable by law?

The PRIME MINISTER

As my hon. Friend is aware, the situation in the Mining Industry as a whole has for some time been receiving the attention of the Government, and I can make no statement until the negotiations are concluded. The resolution from Somerset is on the same lines as those received from the other districts.
