HC Deb 17 June 1931 vol 253 c1733
38. Mr. JOHN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether the experiments carried out in the use of fuel oil from coal by any of the airships have now been completed; and, if so, with what result?

Mr. MONTAGUE

No experiments of the kind mentioned by my hon. Friend have been carried out with airship engines.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

Are these experiments still in progress with aeroplane engines?

Mr. MONTAGUE

The question of fuel oil from coal has only reached the stage of laboratory experiments so far. The Ministry is more concerned with petrol, and everything is being done in that direction.
