HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 c1488
64. Sir PHILIP RICHARDSON

asked the Secretary of State for War if, in view of the condition of war graves at Kilosa, in East Africa, he can state which is the responsible authority for properly maintaining these graves?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. T. Shaw)

In reply to inquiries, the Imperial War Graves Commission have this morning received the following telegram from the Government of Tanganyika: District Officer states report entirely unfounded as graves are in excellent condition. Caretaker is employed to keep cemetery clean and weeded and attending to this daily. Such independent testimony as can be gathered at 6hort notice confirms this.
