HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 cc1472-3
18. Mr. HORRABIN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has any information as to the present position, financial and otherwise, of the Kilimanjaro Native Planters' Association of Tanganyika Territory?

Dr. SHIELS

The association suffered considerably owing to losses caused by the heavy fall in prices last season. It is, however, solvent and has been reorganised on the basis of subscriptions instead of depending, as formerly, on commission on sales. The latest figures give 12,231 members owning about six million trees.
