HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 cc1477-8
33. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has any information as to the willingness of the Great Western Railway Company, the London and North Eastern Railway Company, the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company, and the Southern Railway Company to accept the Weir Report on railway electrification; and what steps he proposes to take to assist them in accordance with the recommendations of the Macmillan Report and Addendum I thereto?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am arranging to discuss with the railway companies the subject matter of Lord Weir's Report at an early date, and meanwhile am not in a position to make any further statement.

Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

Why has all this unnecessary delay been caused?

Mr. MORRISON

I do not agree that there has been any unnecessary delay at all.
