§ 30. Sir K. WOODasked the Minister of Transport whether he is prepared to receive a deputation from the various organisations of London taximeter-cab drivers on the subject of the draft London Traffic (Unhired Cabs) Regulations, 1931?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONA deputation from the various organisations of London taxi-cab drivers, on the subject of the draft London Traffic (Unhired Cabs) Regulations, 1931, was received as recently as Monday last by the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee, and pending the receipt of the committee's report I do not think any good purpose would be served by my receiving a further deputation.
§ Sir K. WOODIs the right hon. Gentleman not aware that these organisations of taxi-drivers themselves are anxious to meet him and not a particular committee?
§ Mr. MORRISONAssuming appropriate circumstances, I have not 1477 refused to receive them. Obviously, when the committee has received them on Monday, and they have been willing to meet the committee, it would not have been appropriate for me to meet them on Wednesday.
§ Sir K. WOODIs the right bon Gentleman not aware that they asked to meet him?
§ Mr. MORRISONThe fact remains that they met the committee on Monday, and it hardly seems appropriate that the Minister should meet them two days afterwards.
