asked the Secretary of State for India whether he can state the result of the recommendations of the Lee Commission with regard to the officering of the police in India and how far they have been carried out?

The recommendation of the Lee Commission that out of every 100 recruits for the Indian Police Service, 50 should be Europeans and 30 should be Indians recruited directly, and the remaining 20 obtained by promotion from the Provincial Services, has been acted on with the result that on the 1st January, 1931, there were 53V Europeans and 144 Indians in the service.
