HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 c1475
26. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Transport if he will state what local authorities have adopted or have indicated their intention to adopt the recommendation of his Department for dual roads; and will he give particulars of the number and situation of such roads already constructed or in contemplation and the approximate cost of construction?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

No specific recommendation has been made by my Department with respect to dual roads. I am unable to furnish particulars of their number and situation without making inquiries all over the country. The cost of construction depends upon many variable factors such as the dimensions adopted, the materials used and the nature of the site.

Mr. DAY

Has the right bon. Gentleman any record of the number of dual roads there are at present in existence?

Mr. MORRISON

No, Sir.
