HC Deb 20 July 1931 vol 255 cc1054-5
45. Mr. W. J. BROWN

asked the Prime Minister whether in connection with correspondence now proceeding on the Douglas-Pennant case, he can assure the House that the condition previously imposed that the concurrence of Lord Weir is necessary is now removed?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

No condition has been imposed which limits the freedom of the. Government in this matter.

Mr. BROWN

If the Attorney-General and his advisers come to the conclusion that something ought to be done to rectify the circumstances of this case, will the Government feel themselves free to act upon the recommendation?

The PRIME MINISTER

As I have said, no condition has been imposed which limits the freedom of the Government.
