HC Deb 20 July 1931 vol 255 c1057
56. Mr. MARCUS

asked the First Commissioner of Works if he is aware that personal inconvenience is being caused to Members owing to there being no room available for the use of Members' wives; and if he will take steps to provide a room for this purpose?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)

There is at present no possibility of finding more accommodation for Members, their wives, or their sweethearts. As I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Chesterfield (Mr. Benson) on the 1st July last, I hope that, when the repairs to the stonework are completed, a committee may be appointed to consider the whole question of the allocation of accommodation.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Could we have a few self-contained flats for Members' wives?
