asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the inconvenience caused to users of road traction of every description owing to the delay in completing the work now in progress in New Cross Road, Deptford; and whether he will make representations to the authorities concerned to speed up this work, either by working double shifts or otherwise?

Mr. PARKINSON

My right hon. Friend is informed that the road repairs now being effected by the highway authority will be completed by the 14th instant, and he is making representations to the Post Office authorities regarding the desirability of expediting the works which they have in hand.

Mr. MILLS

Is there any likelihood of half-a-dozen other departments breaking up this road directly the other department is finished and——

That is extending the scope of this question.
