asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed persons, men and women, upon the register of the Employment Exchanges at Birmingham as at the end of June, or nearest convenient date, in the present year and in 1929 and 1930?

Miss BONDFIELD

As the reply includes a table of figures, I will circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. HANNON

Will the right hon. Lady indicate to the House whether there has not been a substantial increase in the number of unemployed in Birmingham?

Miss BONDFIELD

Yes, there has been a substantial increase.

Mr. HANNON

Has the right hon. Lady any plans in mind to enable those men to get back into employment?

Miss BONDFIELD

That matter does not arise out of the question.
