HC Deb 06 July 1931 vol 254 cc1697-8
15. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for India what action the Government of India proposes to take as a result of the recent report of the Royal Commission on labour conditions in India?

18. Major GRAHAM POLE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether in view of the observations made in the report of the Royal Commission on labour in India concerning the conditions under which the Government's employés in the Government of India's salt mine at Khewara are compelled to work, he will urge upon the Government of India the necessity of taking whatever steps are possible to improve these conditions?

Mr. BENN

The Government of India will no doubt take into early consideration the numerous recommendations made by the Royal Commission on Labour, whose report was only published last week, and inform me in due course of the action which they propose to take.
