§ 37. Mr. REMERasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that an exercise book used extensively for educational purposes in West Africa called the Prince of Wales exercise book, and bearing a photograph of His Royal Highness, is printed in Holland; and if, in view of the loss of prestige to British trade in West Africa, he will state what steps he has taken in this matter to prevent its use?
§ Dr. SHIELSThe exercise book in question is not supplied for use in Government schools. The larger proportion of the schools in West Africa are managed by missionary societies, some 959 of which are not British; and Government exercise no control over the source of their supplies.
