HC Deb 28 January 1931 vol 247 cc963-4
44. Sir RENNELL ROOD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether any practical results have been obtained from the experiments undertaken with a view to giving buoyancy to the all-metal machines used by the Royal Navy for long-range flights at sea?

Mr. MONTAGUE

The experiments undertaken have been successful and an order has been given that the all-metal Fleet Air Arm aircraft are all to be equipped with a new form of emergency flotation gear. A large proportion of the aircraft are now being equipped, and in the case of new types, buoyancy is being included in the design.
