HC Deb 27 January 1931 vol 247 c787
36. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Secretary of State for War if there has been any increase in recruiting as a result of the recent efforts to popularise the Army, especially on the county basis?

Mr. SHAW

From the beginning of the special recruiting campaign on 1st January to 24th January, over 5,100 recruits were obtained for the Army, which compares with 3,500 during the corresponding period last year. Recruits were afforded special opportunities of enlisting in their county regiments.

Mr. SOMERVILLE

How long will this campaign be continued?
