HC Deb 26 January 1931 vol 247 cc601-2
76. Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMS

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement showing the steps His Majesty's Government have taken, and are taking, to develop and extend home, Imperial, and foreign trade?

Mr. GILLETT

Many statements too numerous to repeat in an answer to a Parliamentary question have recently been made on this subject in the House. The hon. Member will also find considerable information as regards the principal measures recently taken by His Majesty's Government on the matters referred to in the question in Part II of Command Paper No. 3746.

Mr. WILLIAMS

When will the hon. Gentleman be in a position to give one single case, in fact, in which the Government have done anything to encourage British trade in any way?

Mr. GILLETT

I could refer the hon. Member to a number of questions in connection with my Department in answer to his question.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Can the hon. Gentleman state if these are merely statements or accomplished facts?
