HC Deb 26 February 1931 vol 248 c2262
33. Mr. HACKING

asked the Home Secretary whether he is yet in a position to state the number of holiday visitors who came to this country from overseas during the year 1930; and, if so, how the figures compare with those for the years 1929 and 1928?

Mr. CLYNES

The figures for the three years named in the question are, respectively, 1928, 224,815; 1929, 238,391; and 1930, 245,865.

Mr. HACKING

Is the improvement due to the advertising of this country in foreign countries?

Mr. CLYNES

I have no doubt that that has had a great effect.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Is it not due to better conditions under a Labour Government?
