HC Deb 18 February 1931 vol 248 cc1221-2
6. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs with regard to the forthcoming Disarmament Conference, whether any alteration is to be made in the method of election of the chairman; and what reply he has made to the Soviet Ambassador on their communication to the British Government in relation to this conference?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The Soviet Ambassador in London has been informed that Geneva has been provisionally fixed as the meeting place of the conference, and that the question of the selection of the chairman will be considered by the Council of the League at their next session.

Sir K. WOOD

Can the right hon. Gentleman express any of his own views on the objection raised by the Soviet Government?

Mr. HENDERSON

I do not think that it would be for the information of the House if I stated what my personal views were.

Sir K. WOOD

Surely, the right hon. Gentleman has more regard for the importance of his opinion than that?
