asked the Secretary for Mines the total amount paid in the last year for which figures are available of royalties in the mining industry and the average amount per ton of coal produced?

The estimated total amount payable as coal-mining royalties and wayleaves, including the rental value of freehold minerals where worked by the proprietors, in the year ended 30th September, 1930, was approximately £5,650,000, and the average amount per ton of saleable coal raised was 5.45d.
