20. Mr. T. LEWIS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the numbers of lieut.-commanders and lieutenants (ex-cadet) in the 1930 and 1931 (G), (T), (N), A/S, (S), W/T, P, and R.T. and staff courses; the number of ex-mates included; and when it is anticipated that any further ex-mates will be included in these specialist courses?

Mr. ALEXANDER

The following numbers of lieut.-commanders and lieutenant (ex-Cadet) were selected for specialist courses in 1930:—G. 8, T.4, N.10, S. and W/T 9, P. and R.T. 3, Staff 3. No A/S course was held in that year. Four were selected for the 1931 A/S Course and 15 for the 1931 Staff Course. No ex-mates were included in these courses. Selections for the 1931 Courses in G, T, N, S and W/T and P. and R.T. have not yet been made, and it is not possible to state at present whether any ex-mates will be included, but applications from ex-mates will be considered on their merits.
