HC Deb 05 February 1931 vol 247 cc2101-2
81. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will now consider the advisability of appointing a committee to consider how far the present incidence of taxation can be altered so as to remove, as far as possible, the burden at present placed on enterprise, re-equipment, and development?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I have nothing to add to the answer I gave to the right hon. Gentleman on 25th November last in reply to a similar question.

Sir K. WOOD

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this is the proposal of the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Carnarvon Boroughs (Mr. Lloyd George)? Has he contemplated the seriousness of the position?

Mr. SNOWDEN

I am not so well acquainted with the proposals of the right hon. Member for Carnarvon Boroughs as the right hon. Gentleman.

Sir K. WOOD

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think he ought to make himself acquainted with them?

Mr. SNOWDEN

I will do so when the necessity arises.
